A Christmas Message for the Typosphere

At the end of a pleasant day spent typing our Christmas notes, it occurred to me that I'd almost forgotten one of the most important ones ...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the great folks of the Typosphere!

.
.

And, oh yeah, to those who would chortle, guffaw, or otherwise express titillation at my little date typo I would suggest that they have not yet had the opportunity to navigate the multiple pitfalls provided by a 3-bank, double shift machine like the Oliver while typing the four seemingly simple characters of "2013"!

  1. Heh. It takes practice typing numbers with the Oliver, I know that. XD

I couldn't agree more with you. The Typosphere is great, and I too am very happy to have found it.

  3. What a nice greeting. That's quite a stash of typewriters you've accumulated in one year -- good going!

    2. Thanks, Ton There's A nifty mode on my Sony Nex7 that merges three images at varying exposures into one HDR image, then pumps up detail and warmth. It is fun to use these digicam tricks sometimes. See http://tonymindling.blogspot.com/2013/11/fall-garden-wabi-sabi.html

  5. Merry Christmas to you as well! The Typosphere is richer for your participation (:

PS: you're a speed acquisition demon, man - it took me 3 years to get up to 40 machines :D

  7. Merry Christmas to you too Tony!

Nice to see someone typing on an Oliver. Most collectors I know only have them for show. And ehm, is that a purple ribbon? Looks great!

  8. Yes - I like to play with colored ribbons about the same as I like to play with inks for fountain pens, although there is not near the variety of ribbon colors. As for using the Oliver, it is a pleasure to see it function after resurecting it. And it actually has a pretty nice touch, and of course plenty of character. It's nice to have typers that create a distinct vintage look. But on the other hand, I will fuss and fuss over the more recent machines whose output should look good, i.e., good alignment between characters and upper-lower case, evenness of impressions from top to bottom, and so on.
